Following the rumor making round some sections of the social media that Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has perfected plans to field his Chief of Staff, Festus Ovie Agas for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Delta State under Accord Party has been described as blatant lies from those who never meant well for the State.
Speaking exclusively with Sunreporters on Thursday night, Okowa Chief of Staff, Ovie Agas debunked the allegation, stressed that he remain a PDP member and there was no time he made intention to run for governor in the oil rich State under Accord Party.
“Respectfully it’s not true that I have been drafted to run for Delta Guber under Accord Party.”
The Urhobo born lawyer said although he was eminently qualified to run for the exalted office, hinted that there was no green light from his immediate boss and critical stakeholders of his Party, expressed appreciation to all who wanted him to run, said he was not convinced to contest at this point in time, especially after consulting critical stakeholders of his Party.
Calling on those creating unnecessary tension in the State to desist from it.
Although insider sources hinted our correspondent that Gov. Okowa’s wife, Dame Edith Okowa wanted Ovie Agas to succeed Okowa, a development she sold to her husband in 2020 but the first lady suggestions was jettisoned, following pressure from Okowa cabal led by Mr. Micheal Diden, A.K.A Ejele resuscitated their pressure group, Delta Political Vanguard, DPV to market their preferred candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori and have stake in the incoming government.
The governor’s wife in a bid to also project Ovie Agas also formed pressure group, Delta Political Mandate with the view to also market her candidate to Deltans, an idea the governor shutdown late 2021 and anointed his cabal preferred candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Cabal who succeeded in shoving their preferred candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori on the governor’s throat has since been enmeshed with certificate scandal.
According to our insider sources who confirmed the governor disappointment on Sheriff Oborevwori over his questionable certificates presented to INEC regretted for not tolling the direction of the first lady.
Okowa and former governor, James Ibori has been reportedly battling for who produces the next governor of the State.
This singular development is currently still causing serious political ripple in the oil rich Delta State, where Ibori anointed candidate, David Edevbie approached Federal High Court to disqualify Okowa anointed candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori on grounds of certificate scandal and declare him winner of the PDP primary conducted May 25, 2022.
David Edevbie relief sort was granted on July 7, 2022 and a certified true copy of the judgement was released by the presiding judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo on July 14, 2022 for David Edevbie to immediately serve all the parties, especially for PDP to submit his name to INEC.
Time shall tell on who win this battle with the duo of Gov. Okowa and James Ibori.
