Army Day Celebration: 90 Amph. BN, Distribute Educational Materials to Schools in Delta

As part of efforts to encourage education and commemorate the 2022 Army Day Celebration, the 90 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigeria Army, Koko recently distributed Educational Materials to Schools in Okpe, Sapele, Ethiope West and Warri North Local Government Areas of Delta State respectively.

The Schools visited include: Adana-Okpe Model Primary School Oreorokpe, in Okpe Local Government Area, Oton Primary School,Oton in Sapele Local Government Area of the state.

Others include; Jesse Primary School, Jesse Town, Uherevie Primary School, Oghara Both in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State and Ojomba Primary School, Koko in Warri North Local Government Area of the State.

The exercise our correspondent gathered is part of corporate-Social responsibility of the military and to encourage education as a veritable tool for good governance, reduce crime and bring development to the people according to the Commanding Officer of the 90 Amphibious Battalion, Major J.O Ajongbo while speaking with Journalists.

The CO maintained that the Nigeria Army has always celebrated Nigeria Army Day and this year , they decided to contribute to nation building as they occupied public offices.

“We are distributing these writing materials to all the pupils gathered here today in remembrance of our Great country “.

“Our aims and objectives are to help the primary schools pupils in Nigeria irrespective of their tribes,
to promote education and catch them young, to sensitize and enlighten the children of the need for peaceful co-existence ,social vices in our society, among others”.

The children in their joyous mood said they will like to be Army as to also defend and promote the unity of our country Nigeria .

The Headmistress of Adane-Okpe Primary schools Mrs. Queen Apuyor in her remarks, expressed satisfaction for
the gesture.

Mrs. Queen Apuyor while thanking the Nigeria Army for recognizing her school for this great Exercise, promised to ensure that the materials will be put to adequate use by the pupils.

On his part, the Orerokpe Community Chairman, Comrade Francis Ijejona said that the event this was an history making one.

Comrade Ijejona said that he was happy that in his tenure as the community Chairman,the Nigeria Army is giving back to the society and pray for God to protect the Nigeria Army wherever they find themselves.

The Youth President of the community, Comrade Goodluck Okotogide also appreciated Major Ajongbo and his team for this kind gesture and equally promised that Orerokpe youths will support them in helping to fight crime in its locality.

Highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of cash to the teachers to encourage them for their great work and grate impact on the children in nation building.
