Sources within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State have confirmed that all is set for the party to receive some high profile chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) into its fold.
Our correspondent learnt the defectors will be led by the former deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche; former member, House of Representatives, Hon. Emma Deeyah; former House of Representatives member and immediate past spokesman of the APC in the state, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke.
Five other chieftains of the APC, including a former chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Hon. Ngo Martins-Yellowe and former DG, Cole/Giadom Campaign Organisation, Dr. Barinedum Nwibere, are said to be on the list of Decampees.
Sunreporters gathered that the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, will lead PDP chieftains in the state to receive the decampees at a reception ceremony billed to hold at Isaac Boro Park, Mile One in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, Ogbonna Nwuke who had earlier denied reports linking him with defection to the PDP, on Monday, reportedly informed some loyalists that the APC failed him and the Etche people.
A source quoted him as saying: “I was told that there is change in the APC but I did not see any change. My defection will do Etche people good.
“The only thing we got in APC is an aide to the chairman of the NDDC, and member of a governing board of a college in the north”.
