Three men suspected to be Fulani herdsman was yesterday, 31/01/2021 arrested by Oghara youths body over illegal possession of live ammunition and handed over to the Nigerian Police force, Oghara division.
According to the Community youth Chairman, Mr. Humphrey Eghweree told our correspondent in Oghara that the alleged Fulani herdsman who was riding Okada involved in accident with another motor bike rider on his way to a popular cattle market in Oghara and in the process of the accident, live ammunition fell off from him, noted that upon interrogation, he confessed that a notable Althaji (name withheld) in the Cattle market was the owner of the bullets whom he went to buy.
The community youth leader stressed that immediately he called the police and handed him over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, noting that security unrest in the community has heightened in the recent times.
While warning criminals to relocate from the community or be ready to face the wrath of the community.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, Onome Onomekpoyeya denied that Police from Oghara did not arrest anyone with live ammunition and noted that she so believed her men.
” My men said there is nothing like that, I just called not quite long.”
But police sources within Oghara police Station confided on our correspondent that three suspects has been arrested currently in their custody; hinted the suspect would be transferred to State Police headquarters for further investigation.
