Following fears of imminent collapse of Asaba international airport, residents of Okpanam community, the airport host community has raised alarm for Delta State government to come to their rescue as erosion currently posing serious danger in the community, just as they hinted that the ravaged area opposite the Airport poses great danger.
According to residents of the community who told our correspondent that residents no longer sleep two eyes closed, occasioned by the ravaging flood disturbing the area, especially now that the rainy season is gradually setting in.
They noted that they have tried their best to savage the situation but all to no avail; while calling on Delta state government led by Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa to come to their aid.
Effort to obtain comments from the Delta State commissioner for Work, Mr. James Augoye on the position of government was unsuccessful as calls put to his known MTN 080********47 was kept unreplied.
Insider sources told our correspondent that the State Governor, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa sometime last year, directed the Commissioner for Works to ascertain permanent solution to the area, especially the airport axis to prevent imminent collapse of the airport which the erosion is currently threatening its safety.
