Asaba-In what could have been one of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa landmark legacies, Delta State Traffic Management Authourity, DESTMA, popularly called ‘Okowa police’ has recently bring enmeshed with allegations of Certificate scandals, frauds, bribery, physical assault, institutional oppression, official misdemeanor among others, has plunged the Delta State Traffic Management Authority as the most scandalized government Agency in Delta State.
As if that was not enough the alleged certificate scandal, where the Director-General of the Agency, Mr. Samuel Azuibike Idah National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has dashed into the tin air, which has raised doubts on the credibility on Gov. Okowa led Delta State government, the embattled Director General instead of the State government to suspend him since preside as the DG, a development that is currently raising dust.
Established in 2016, Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), a body responsible for upholding traffic integrity and persecuting traffic offenders in Delta State, is in the hands of someone who said to not have NYSC certificate, a development that has generated mixed reactions in the State in recent times, our investigation has revealed.
Irked by the development, a Civil Society Organization, Young Nigerian Rights has petitioned the Delta State House of Assembly, copying Department of the State Security, Ministry of Transport, DESTMA among others to avail them the Curricular Vitae submitted by the embattled DESTMA DG before he was screened and confirmed in December, 2019.
According to our insider sources, the Civil Society Organization, Young Nigerian Right in a letter dated 13th July, 2020 signed by the State Coordinator, Mr. Victor Ojei urged Delta Assembly to avail them the said documents since the embattled Director-General has not address Deltans on the true position of his NYSC certificate.
It is the hope of every Deltans that Delta State House Assembly would be magnanimous to make available the CV so submitted by Mr. Idah under freedom of Information Act.
Sunreporters had earlier reported that insider Delta Assembly House confided on our reporter that Mr. Idah never submitted his NYSC certificate to the Assembly during screening.
We also reported that following the allegations of extortions, assaults on road user among other allegation, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa through the office of the Chief of Staff directed a committee headed by the State commissioner of Transport as Chairman to investigate the allegations leveled against Mr. Idah but as at the time of this report, the committee is yet to submit their report after inviting parties involved.
