Why I jettisoned my people’s call to contest Delta Speakership position ---Erhitake Ibori

Asaba-The member representing Ethiope west costituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Erhitake Ibori has given reasons on why she jettisoned her people call to contest the Speakership position of the Delta State House of Assembly stressed that though she was qualified to occupy the speakership position of the 7th Assembly especially been a ranking member and one of the honourable members from Delta central, the re-elected member representing Ethiope west in the DTHA said she turned down such calls prior to the elections of the speaker from members of his costituents and political associates who believed in her capacity to lead the hallowed chambers of the Delta State House of Assembly in order not to go against her party wish; averred that the system preferred Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori to her noted that contesting the position may jettisoned the party interest, hence she supported the party candidate.

Erhitake stated this at the Delta State House of Assembly complex while addressing journalists immediately after her inaguaration into the 7th assembly explained that she would have used her law making prowess gardened over the years to lead the hallowed chambers to an enviable height but was shortleaved for party interest.

 "the party is supreme, I have no problem towing the line of the party in choosing who lead us in the legislative arm of the Delta state  house of assembly". She said with the undeniable experience of the re-elected speaker, Rt.hon sheriff Oborevwori in 6th assembly, she is confident that he would worked harmoniously to carry the whole house along, to enable them exceed their previous performance in the number of bills they passed into law, and to also futher work cooperatively with the executive for smooth governance".

It will be recalled that Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori was re-elected unopposed as speaker of the 7th assembly by the entire 29 members of the Delta State House of Assembly, during the inaguaration of 7th Delta state assembly, monday June 16th, 2019, making him the first speaker to be re-elected to lead the DTHA.

She also reiterated her desire to continue to sponsor bills that will be beneficial to her people and Deltans, even as she promised to continue her SHI initiative costituency programme that have been providing free mat
enal health care services to communities in her costituency, while she also promised to invest in Education and other sectors which will positively affects the people.

It would be recalled that Mr. Kparobo Ehvwubare, a political analyst cum social crusader in his article "Delta Speakership: Erhitake Ibori remain the best Choice" recently called of Erhitake Ibori to throw her hat into the ring to contest the Speakership position of the Delta House of Assembly,  hinted that Erhitake was eminently qualified for the prompt job.

But Erhitake Ibori in her recent interview revealed why she jettisoned the calls from her constituents in the alter of party interest,  a development many sees a sold off by the Honorable member.
