Omoko congratulates Okowa as INEC declared Okowa winner

Prominent Urhobo youth leader and National President, Urhobo Progress Union UPU youth wing worldwide, Comr. Nicholas Omoko has congratulated Delta State governor and  Governor-elect, Ifeanyi Okowa over his landslide victory at the just concluded gubernatoral election in the State.

The Urhobo youth leader disclosed this in a press statement in Oghara, the hometown of former Gov. James Ibori and a copy made available to our correspondent noted that Gov. Okowa victory has shown the governor's acceptability by Deltans.

The statement hinted that Deltans has shown to Gov. Okowa that Deltans are with him in his resolved to make Delta great.

While thanking the people of Delta State for voting enmass for Okowa, assured them of better days ahead with Okowa at the helm of affairs in the State.

Omoko however advised the major contender of Gov. Okowa, Great Ogboru to be magnanimous and  join hands with Okowa to develop Delta of our dream.

Earlier, the State collation officer in Delta State, Prof. Serth Accra Jaja has declared Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa winner of the just concluded governorship election.

The State collation officer, Prof. Serth Accra Jaja while giving details of the results, stated that the state has a total of 2,831,205 registered voters, adding that 1,188,784 were accredited.

He hinted that a total of 1,178,335 votes were cast during the election, out of which 1,154,188 votes were valid while 24,147 were rejected.

In the final score as collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, APC scored 215,938 while PDP polled 925,274 votes.

The various political parties agents signed the result sheet before the formal declaration of winner.

INEC’s State collation officer, Prof. Serth Accra Jaja after the signing of results sheets formally declared Okowa winner of the keenly contested governorship election at about 12:30pm.
