Edevbie commends Okowa over prudent management of funds

Asaba-Delta State finance commissioner, Olorogun David Edevbie has commended Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa over prudent management of the State funds despite the limited resources available in the State.

Olorogun David Edevbie made the commendation today (Monday) while playing host to Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Delta State chapter explained that Delta State was facing a challenging times but noted that Gov. Okowa who has been so meticulous was able to manage the limited funds, while appealing to the online media body to partner with the Delta State government in information dissemination so as to educate Deltans on the challenges facing the State.
“Deltans should be thankful for having somebody like Gov. Okowa at this challenging times where the total weigh bin is over N6Billion against about N3.5Billion as allocation”.
According to the Finance commissioner who was the former Principal secretary to President Musa Yar-Adua hinted that the weigh bin of the State is more than the resources coming to the State, called for greater understanding with the Okowa led administration, assures of better days ahead.
Edevbie also called for training and re-training of civil servants in the State so as to cope with the modern trends  of civil service, stressing that civil service has gone beyond manual, attributed that to the slow pace of memo passage in the State.
He also congratulated Gov. Okowa for the success of the just concluded National convention of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged as the Party Presidential candidate in the 2019 election.
Edevbie however called on the online media body, which he described as veritable tool in information dissemination to be accurate in their reportage in this election year, where Nigeria democracy would be tested, lamented the alleged undemocratic incident that happened in Osun and Ekiti election.
He promised that ministry of finance would to partner with OMPAN in dissemination of information to members of the public.
Earlier the Chairman of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria  (OMPAN), Delta State chapter, Mr. Legacy Peters told the commissioner that they were in his office on familiarization tour, hinted that OMPAN is a national body of professional media personnel who carry out their duties diligently.
