Koko – Barr. Wilson Alatsha of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC primary election held in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Council, Delta state.
While declaring the result, Chairman of the primary election committee, Mr Mele James said, Barr. Alatsha polled 142 votes out of a total of 286 vote cast to beat the next opponent, Mr Clement Wodo who polled 76 votes. The third position went to Amb. David Atie, who polled 24 votes, while Hon. Tosan Desmond polled 20 votes. Mr Bemingho Eyeoyibo polled 16 votes, while 8 votes were voided.
In his acceptance speech, Barr. Alatsha called on all other aspirants who contested with him in the election to join forces with him, ‘‘with a view to coasting home victory for the party at the 2019 general election, noting that it was normal for someone to win and others loose in any contest.
According to him, ‘‘APC has no faction in Warri North Local Government Area,’’ adding that although there were divergent views but that such was the beauty of democracy, and that, ‘‘the party would harness all divergent views with a view to making its concrete decisions.’’
This was just as the Chairman of APC in Warri North LGA, Mr Joseph Alikpoma has declared that the election was ‘‘the freest and fairest election ever conducted in the history of the party in this local government area.’’
Meanwhile, he has assured of the party's preparedness to win the forth governorship election in the state, saying, ‘‘The prosperity slogan of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led Peoples Democratic Party government in the state run contrary to the current high poverty level in the state.’’
‘’Since the people are very hungry, occasioned by the maladministration of the PDP led government, we are poised to bring succour to the people after our victory in the governorship election so that the people can, at least, experience the dividends of democracy.’’
‘’With our well established structure from the grass root to the political hierarchy of the country, victory is sure in 2019 for the APC at all levels of government. With our structures and with Great Ogboru, victory is double sure in the governorship election in Delta state come 2019. There is no going back.’’
‘‘Here in Warri North we are sure of victory because APC has no faction here. Although there may be divergent views and that is the beauty of democracy. The party will harness divergent views in taking its concrete decisions. That is democracy.’’
