There was pandemonium in Okuophwaphwa quarters, Edjemuoyavwe community-Oghara yesterday, over plans by some elders alleged to have been induced by Abiyemi Gabari to endorse his candidate, Charity Agbigha to succeed the incumbent youth Chairman of the community by June.

According to eyewitness and some aspirants who spoke to correspondent noted that troubles seems to have started when the meeting venue was moved to unknown destination only for them to be told that Abiyemi Gabari alleged to have  influenced the convener of the meeting and other members of the committee with money to endorse his candidate.
One of the aspirants, Iteme Onoriode explained that he was surprise that elders of Okuophwaphwa quarters could be deceived by Abiyemi Gabari, who has no reputation in the quarter, appealing to the elders to jettisoned Abiyemi’s plan capable of causing serious crisis in the area.

Mr. Humphrey Eghweree who is one of the major contenders in a telephone chat, stressed that he was the most qualified aspirant for the position, hinted that youth leadership should be given to those who understand the terrain, not for someone who would not tackle community issue headlong.
He emphasized that Okuophwaphwa youths yesterday rejected one Mr. Charity Agbigha who according to him was the candidate of Abiyemi Gabari, after attempt to impose him on the them.

Contacted, Mr. Abiyemi Gabari noted that he never bribed anybody to endorsed Mr. Charity Agbigha, opined that the hitherto status-quo favoured Agbigha, appealed to all and sundries to queue behind Agbigha candidature, noted that over his dead body would he allow Mr. Humphrey Eghweree to emerge.

Investigations revealed that the three major aspirants for the Chairmanship position that include: Mr. Onoriode Iteme, Humphrey Eghweree and Charity Agbigha have their financiers, who promised to spend their last kobo to deliver that candidate.
Dependable source told our correspondent that Mr. Abuyemi Gabari vowed never to allow Mr. Humphrey Eghweree see the light of the day as far the Chairmanship race is concern, alleged to have induced the seven man committee set up by the quarter with undisclosed amount of money, to ensure that his candidate emerge winner.
Not leaving any stone unturned, Humphrey Eghweree financier, Bar. Akpor Eghweree has boasted to have kept over two million naira to be splash on the committee to endorse his candidate, he was also said to have told the Council Chairman, Solomon Golley to call Abiyemi Gabari to order, vowed to deliver his candidate with his money he set aside for the project.
Worried by the development, where winner may be the highest bidder, Mr. Iteme Onoriode financier, Hon. Frank Ikutu who is expected to storm the meeting billed for 2pm today, with an alleged plans to also lobby the committee with undisclosed amount of money to favour his candidate.
Effort to obtain comment from convener of the said meeting and a member of the committee, Hon. Jonathan Eghweree was unsuccessful as his known MTN number was said to be switched at the time of filing this report.
